On exhibit in the VMNH Lobby beginning February 28, the exhibit "Australopithecine!" features fossil casts of Australopithecus sediba, a sensational new fossil find from South Africa. The casts are on loan from the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa, Washington, D.C. The VMNH Lobby is free and open to the public, as is the Museum Store and PALEO Café.

The "Dinosaurs" and "Dinosaur Discovery" exhibits opened January 12 with the Dino Day festival, with over 1,100 visitors on hand to celebrate opening day! These spectacular exhibits are open at the museum through August 25. The museum is open until 7 p.m. every Tuesday (regular closing time is 5 p.m.). Remember, VMNH Members always receive free admission...don't wait - join today!

Thanks to everyone who volunteered and visited the museum during Dino Day!! With over 1,100 visitors, it was the largest crowd to ever attend a festival at the museum!! If you didn't get a chance to visit today, don't worry. The "Dinosaurs" and "Dinosaur Discovery" exhibits will be on display through August 25!

This is it! We are officially ushering in the "Dinosaurs" and "Dinosaur Discovery" exhibits with the DINO DAY Family Festival today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.!! Be sure to stop by for a day full of games, crafts, activities, presentations, and, of course, the dino exhibits!!!

With the new "Dinosaurs" and "Dinosaur Discovery" exhibits opening January 12, now is the time to stop by the VMNH Museum Store for fun, educational dinosaur-themed items for visitors of all ages. The Museum Store also features a variety of other items, including hand-crafted jewelry and pottery, a variety of VMNH-branded items, and locally made candies and snacks. While you are here, stop by the PALEO Cafe for fresh coffee, delicious snacks, and a variety of lunch specials.

EXTENDED OPERATING HOURS BEGINNING JANUARY 15! The Virginia Museum of Natural History will be open to visitors until 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings beginning January 15. The extended hours coincide with the opening of the special exhibits "Dinosaurs" and "Dinosaur Discovery" and allow individuals and families a better opportunity to experience all of the museum's exhibit galleries during the work week.
