We're just hangin' out on a Friday afternoon!

It's rare to actually find Mereet in its museum habitat, so we took a couple of pics while we had the chance. Mereet is an Asian house gecko (Hemidactylus frenatus) that, as the name suggests, is native to Souheast Asia. This particular Asian house gecko is a rescue that was accidentally brought to the United States in a shipping container. Like most geckos, she is nocturnal, hiding during the day and foraging for insects at night.

Fun Fact: This species can lose its tail when attacked, but will grow another!
