Over 150 rising juniors and seniors from across the Commonwealth visited the museum as part of the 2012 Summer Residential Governor's School Program in Mathematics, Science, and Technology. The Summer Residential Governor's School at Lynchburg College is part of the State of Virginia's broader Governor's School programs. Governor's Schools give gifted students academic and visual and performing arts opportunities beyond those normally available in the students' home schools. The Governor's School programs are administered by the Virginia Department of Education, Office of Secondary Instructional Services, in cooperation with local school divisions, colleges, and universities.
