Mark your calendar now for the 2009 Outdoor Fun Festival and Chili Cookoff on Saturday, June 27, 2009. Below are details about the 2008 Outdoor Fun Festival.

Kick off your summer at VMNH - join us for the first ever Outdoor Fun Festival on June 14, 2008. Learn about the many outdoor activities available in the region, with exciting hands-on activities and resources for all ages. There is an outdoor activity for everyone at the VMNH Outdoor Fun Festival.

Activities include a climbing wall, a LaserShot simulator provided by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Outdoor Education Department, which simulates target, as well as hunting scenarios, and a kids' casting program presented by the Bass Federation Nation. Boat and safety information, will also be available to festival-goers. Blue Ridge Grotto has recently agreed to participate, giving festival-goers the chance to learn about cave conservation and safety.

Austin Caviness of WXII, Channel 12 in Winston-Salem, will be on hand at the festival to highlight this one-of-a-kind event.
