Trout in the Classroom
About
The Virginia Museum of Natural History is proud to be a participant in the Trout in the Classroom project created by Trout Unlimited. Trout Unlimited’s mission is to conserve, protect and restore North America’s trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds. This project is designed specifically for teachers who want to incorporate more environmental education into their curriculum. The project involves schools or classrooms setting up aquariums to allow students to take care of and monitor brown trout from eggs to young fry. Many local classrooms have already set up aquariums in their schools and students have been monitoring progress of their trout. The Virginia Museum of Natural History also has a large tank in the Museum’s new Suzanne M. Lacy Education Center.
