The Grand Safari Gala
| | | The Fine Old Gentleman is a warthog in the VMNH collections, and was the symbol for this year's gala. Leonard Muse, a renowned safari hunter, was asked by the people he befriended in Africa to give the Old Gentleman a noble death as the creature's health began to deteriorate and he became prey for other animals. Muse "took" the Old Gentleman, and the Muse family donated the warthog and other exotic animals to the Virginia Museum of Natural History so that others may behold and appreciate them. |
