Doodle Bugs!
About

VMNH offers children ages 3 to 5 the opportunity to experience natural history first-hand with our Doodle Bugs! program.  The hour-long programs include imaginative stories, fun activities, games, and crafts that spark creativity and curiosity.  Programs are held at 10 a.m. and repeated at 3 p.m.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Program fee is $4 per participant.  Pre-registration is required by calling the Museum at 276-634-4185.

Animal Movements

Can you slither, crawl, and move like some local animals? Learn about how animals have special ways of traveling.

Slimy, Scaly Fun

Surround yourself with lizards, frogs, and turtles at this Doodle Bugs program!  We will make a cool craft to take home too.

August 27th
Whale of a Tale

Dive into the mysterious world of the ocean while observing ocean specimens. Make a craft to take home too.

Going Buggy

Calling all Doodle Bugs!  Get ready to go on a bug hunt outside the museum and try to find some doodle bugs of our own.

Virginia Indians

October is Virginia Archaeology Month.   Observe several artifacts as you learn how the early Virginia Indians used the plants and animals around them.

November 19, 2008
Exploring the Ice Age

Sink your teeth into this program and learn more about the Saber Tooth tigers, and other Ice Age animals, that once roamed the earth by exploring our latest exhibit.

Holiday Crafts
